In the first months of life, baby will learn about movement of their body and learn to respond and adapt to challenges. For this reason, a baby needs the opportunity to play on its tummy regularly during waking hours (while being supervised) and to spend limited time in an infant seat, carrier, swing or other restrictive devices which inhibit free movement.
Tummy time allows your baby to develop their neck muscles for good head control, whilst also developing upper body strength and gross motor skills such as pushing up, rolling over, sitting up and crawling when the time comes. You can also add toys to tummy time the mat – by gradually introducing the toys, it can make tummy time more fun while stimulating their fine motor skills such as hand-eye co-ordination, and their ability to pick up small items.
The ClevaTummy™ Playmat is designed to make “tummy time” more comfortable and enjoyable for your baby. Made with ClevaFoam™, the ClevaTummy™ mat moulds to the natural shape of your baby’s body. If your baby needs a rest, you can place them on their back knowing that they are being supported by ClevaFoam™ which is clinically proven to increase support by up to 80% and decreases pressure by up to 50%.
About the Author: The recommended retail price of the ClevaTummy™ Playmat is R455.00, available at Baby City, Baby Boom and Toys-R-Us stores.
